HISTORY: Several years ago, I made a commitment to our boat and shipmates. I had three main goals in mind. First, I wanted to create a way share memories. In as much, I've had many guys that took the time to scan and send pictures which we all enjoy. Second, I wanted to preserve the history of the USS Remora. We have spent many years on our boat and she deserves not to be forgotten. Lastly and most important, I wanted to provide a way that we can all keep in contact. I receive many emails every week telling me that someone has located a shipmate they have been trying to find.

WHERE'S ALL THE MONEY GO? Here's what it currently costs to keep the web site up and running:

Could I get the hosting for less? Yes, but, I'll be damned if I'm going to force anyone to look at banners trying to sell you something or having annoying pop-ups everytime you visit our web site. But, that does not tell the whole story. For instance, I sell USS Remora ball caps. I front the original investement and make about $ .50/hat. Not exactly a killing. I also have been known to send out free hats on special occasions. So basically, this is not a profit center by any means. We won't even go into the software that I maintain. The amount of time that is invested is staggering. Then again, it's a labor of love for me.

WHAT'S OVER THE HORIZON? One of my goals is to fly back east and copy every page of our deck logs. This involves flights, hotel, car rental, copy fees, beer and who know's what else. Once I have this information, I can digest it and get it posted up on the web site as well. Hopefully, this will happen within a year. I'm estimating this will cost at least $500.00.

BROTHER, CAN YOU SPARE A DIME? So, what I'm asking for is if you have a buck or two you can spare once in a while, it would be greatly appreciated. If not, that's OK too. I promise you this. Unless I cannot physically or finacally support this web site, it will be here as long as possible. The bottom line is I could use your help in maintaining this site.
