William Earle Smith, Jr, CDR, was commanding officer on the Remora 3 April 1971 until 28 June 1973.

John Michael Leeds, LCDR, served as Operations Officer and Navigator on the Remora from November 1966 until July 1968 when he left to attend War College.  He returned to the USS Remora in August 1970 and Served as the Executive Officer until June 1972. LCDR Leeds left the Remora, attended command school, and returned June 28 1973  as the Commanding Officer.  He was CO when the boat was decon'ed on 23 October 1973.

When LCDR Leeds, left the Remora, LCDR J.D. Rattan came onboard as the XO. He remained until the boat was decon'ed on 23 October 1973.
